About this work
These are two very different aprons that share one job: they wipe clean instead of going into the wash. Leather and leatherette aprons in tan and coffee brown are front-of-house pieces, made for cocktail bars, coffee bars and barbecue counters where the apron is part of the look. Waterproof aprons are back-of-house tools in PVC or PU-coated fabric, cut full length to below the knee so the trouser front stays dry at the sink.
Many kitchens order a few waterproof aprons alongside their fabric aprons, colour-coded by station, because they protect every chef coat underneath. Brands we have made these aprons for include Elgin Cafe, Lord Elgin.

Good to know
Genuine leather ages and darkens beautifully and suits premium cocktail bars. Leatherette is lighter, more uniform in colour across a team and easier to maintain. Both wipe clean and take a debossed or patched logo.
Dishwash, pot wash, fish and meat prep, heavy vegetable prep and anyone handling ice or bar wash-up. These stations soak a cotton apron quickly and then the uniform underneath it.
Full length, to below the knee, for dishwash and butchery. A shorter apron leaves the trouser front exposed, which is the part that catches the splash-back from a sink.
