Serving Scoops in Style: Designing Uniforms for an Ice Cream Parlour
Dessert brands get a licence other restaurants don’t: the licence to be playful. When an ice cream parlour asked us to build their crew’s look, we reached for the sunniest end of the palette: strawberry pinks, cream collars and warm khaki aprons that look like waffle cones feel.
The polos come in two flavours: an all-pink edition and a pink-with-cream-collar version, topped with a matching cap. Over them, a khaki half-apron in sturdy canvas carries the brand’s badge, with embroidery cheerful enough to belong on a sundae menu. The whole set says one thing to a customer walking in from the summer heat: you’re in the right place.
Colour psychology sells scoops
Uniform colour isn’t decoration; it’s merchandising. Warm pinks and pastels are shorthand for sweetness and nostalgia; khakis and creams keep the look grounded and grown-up. In a category where purchases are impulsive and Instagram does half the marketing, a team dressed like the product is the cheapest advertising you'll ever buy.
- Match the flavour, not just the logo. A gelato lab can go minimalist; a family scoop shop should feel like a celebration.
- Think of the counter as a stage. Caps and aprons read clearly across a queue and in every customer photo.
- Choose washable joy. Light colours meet chocolate sauce daily, we pick fabrics and weaves that come back bright from every wash.
